Veggie Challenge Videos

Here is a selection of videos that you may find helpful in advancing your course on this month’s Veggie Challenge. One film not mentioned below but highlighted earlier on this blog is Forks Over Knives, which is a highly compelling and extremely informative piece – and I think the present-day gold standard on the topic of diet and health. And this trailer also presented earlier – Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead – is of interest.

And now to today’s selections, which I chose after browsing 20 – 25 different on-line videos.

Video #1: The trailer for an award-winning documentary – Vegucated. It takes a real-life look at 4 committed meat-eaters in NYC who take the challenge to go vegan for six weeks.

Best Documentary, Toronto Independent Film Festival, 2011
Chris Award For Best Educational Film, Columbus International Film & Video Festival
Best Food Issue, Cinema Verde Environmental Film and Arts Festival, 2012
Official Selection, Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital, 2012
Official Selection, UK Green Film Festival, 2012[2]

Video #2: This is a short clip of Dr Neal Barnard, the President of PCRM. This is a brief introduction of some of ideas he espouses.

You can find out more about Dr Barnard at www.pcrm.org

Video #3: This is a 10 min interview with Dr Joel Furhman about his recommendations and findings about a healthy diet.

You can find more information about Dr Fuhrman here.

Video #4: This looks at some of the environmental aspects of dietary choices.

These are just a few of the many resources on dietary changes and choices. If there are helpful resources you have found let us know. And also let us know if you need more info on a particular topic or aspect of this discussion.
