My Excuse for Missing the Arm Balance Workshop

One of our highly anticipated attendees for the recent Arm Balance Workshop was unable to attend. I told him he better have a good excuse. In an email titled – “My excuse to miss the arm balance seminar!” – he sent the below video.

Here Reza himself introduces the scene: “The video is of one of our competition jumps in Formation Skydiving (FS). Formation skydiving can be practiced in different disciplines such as 4 way (4 competitors), 8 way, 10 way or 16 way. We compete in 4 way events. As we line up at the airplane door before we exit the plane, I am the one to the right with two blue stripes on the back of my parachute.”

Also it should be understood that the below jump took place at a competition in Chicago on June 23, 2013 – the same day as the Arm Balance Workshop.

Now it is up to you the viewer to decide. Was this a valid excuse for missing The Arm Balance Workshop – or should Reza be penalized in some way?

Finally, in this national competition, Reza’s team of jumpers took 2nd place, beating teams from all around the country.

  1. That was total awesomeness. I can hardly fly in a plane let along jump out. Never stop doing what you love. Really spectacular. Thanks for the birds eye view that’s as close as I’ll ever get to doing it.

  2. Wow! That’s the excuse to top all excuses. Most everything else would pale in comparison. Thought my occasional hot air ballooning was daring, at least enough for me. This is a good “sell” for yoga calming the mind, body and spirit. Congrats. on 2nd place and thanks for sharing such an awe inspiring video!

  3. My word, Reza, this is amazing – hearing you talk about it in class did not prepare me for the intensity of this experience! Just can’t imagine having the courage to do this!
