Scenes From the Arm Balance Challenge

Writing the title for this post I felt a bit odd, even uncomfortable. Each month we hold a monthly challenge and the idea is simply to overcome all kinds of staticity in life. We should be on the move and not give way to any type of degradation or degeneration. As travelers on the path we want to always improve, strengthen and refine ourselves in all the ways possible. This is the yogic ethic: Forever moving towards a high ideal. That is the challenge.

But when I typed in the title, “Arm Balance Challenge”, I thought some may mistake this as being some type of competition. When in fact that is not at all the spirit of our monthly challenges. Here our only endeavour is the appreciation of what the human spirit is capable of – whether it be in the field of health and hygiene, meditation, physical might, or any other aspect of life. Naturally, in each plane, we will all have our own starting point or baseline, and from their we grow, individually and collectively.

That said, here are some of the scenes of the Arm Balance Challenge from yesterday and today – we shall proceed in chronological order. And be sure to send us your pics from home as well!!

Here is Sarah in flying pigeon at our Monday night Yoga Challenge class in Chesapeake Beach:

Next we have two scenes from this morning’s classes. First things first – so we begin with dolphin side plank from our Absolutely Abs class at St. James (Lothian).

Finally, we have our a 3-pointed downward-facing dog from our Tuesday morning Continuing Yoga class at St. James.

Now it is your turn, share with us what arm balances you have been up to. And remember, the challenge stems from within….

  2. These are great photos you captured and a very true message. That we are here to grow and appreciate the journey and not compare ourselves to others.
